Care Services
A realistic alternative to residential or nursing home care with many added benefits
“We feel that one-to-one care in your own home gives a far better quality of life”
Anne Challenor-Wood & Anna M. Cara
If you are thinking about residential care, either long term or for a period of convalescence, have you thought about having “24 hour care” at home?
Live-in care involves a Carer living in the home of the person requiring care, enabling them to stay in their own home. The Carer’s role is to provide the meals of the client’s choice, to do the shopping and laundry, as well as to help with personal care needs such as bathing, washing, and dressing, if required.
There are no more worries about being alone at night, as the Carer is there should the client need them. Family can come for Sunday lunch or friends for tea, and if the person cared for is still able to go out, a Carer will take them on outings, such as to the shops or to visit friends.
The cost compares well with residential and nursing home care. The benefits of live-in care are enormous: being able to stay in one’s own home, with all your own belongings and comforts around you; being able to eat what one likes, when one likes; entertaining family and friends; one-to-one care; and a much greater choice over how one lives one’s life and spends one’s days. A variety of care needs can be catered for, from ‘companion care’ through to more intensive care, such as for those with dementia or Parkinson’s, or those who are terminally ill.
Convalescent care and respite care can also usually be arranged for shorter spells.
