24 Hour Live In Care: When Care Needs Are Intensive

A means of staying in your own home when active care is required both day and night

24 hour care can be required when someone requires assistance or monitoring throughout the day and night which may occur during a period of crisis in a person’s health or during end of life care.

Some people with dementia may also require 24 hour care if they have lost all sense of the difference between day and night. This arrangement has enabled a number of our clients to fulfil their wish to stay in their own home for the rest of their lives, regardless of the severity of their condition.

The need for 24 hour care is met by having a rota of two care-givers, one working during the day and the other working during the night. This ensures that a carer is on duty and awake both day and night.

With the 24 hour care service which we provide at Convivium Care, both carers  live-in in order to provide continuity of care. Thus the person receiving care does not have a different carer turning up each day or night, which can cause anxiety, both to the client and to their family.

A person requiring this level of care may be eligible for Continuing Health Care funding. Our General Manager & Later Life Advisor, Steve Lawrence, is able to offer advice to our clients on the eligibilty criteria and how to make a claim for Continuing Health Care funding.
